The Golden Rule: Last On, First Off

Always put your jewellery on after applying perfume, lotion, makeup and hairspray — and take it off first when you get home. Chemicals in cosmetics are the most common reason finishes fade.

Do's

Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth after every wear to remove oils and dust.
Store each piece separately in its pouch or box so pieces don't scratch each other.
Handle rings by the band, not the stone.
Put bangles on carefully over the knuckles — avoid forcing them.

Don'ts

Avoid water — remove jewellery before bathing, swimming or washing hands.
Avoid direct contact with perfume, deodorant, lotion and sanitiser.
Don't wear jewellery during workouts, sports or household cleaning.
Don't sleep wearing your jewellery — it can bend delicate settings.
